Pink ~ WCW

Pink is this week’s Woman Crush. She has been a role model to me for years. She always been her self. I love her music. I think it gets better and better with every new realise.

I know that Pink is an animal rights activist and she supports many different charities and fights for peoples rights. She is also outspoken about LGBT community should have the same rights that everyone else.

  • I’m very involved with PETA – People for Ethical Treatment of Animals – and Greenpeace and a lot of women’s shelter and clothing giveaways. ~Pink
  • “I think the best day will be when we no longer talk about being gay or straight… It’s not a gay wedding, it’s just a wedding… It’s not a gay marriage, it’s just a marriage.”  ~ Pink

Have you watched this speech that Pink made for her daughter at the 2017 VMA:s

I feel really inspired. Be how you are. Don’t change for anyone. We need more people in the world like Pink.

I really admire her for helping people around the world get accepted for how they are and that you shouldn’t change for anyone. Her music inspires people and they are amazing to have at parties.

I hope that you find Pink as inspiring as me. Even if you don’t like her music, I hope you see all the good things she does for the world.

Quotes from Pink:

“The willow is my favourite tree. I grew up near one. It’s the most flexible tree in nature and nothing can break it – no wind, no elements, it can bend and withstand anything.”

“True beauty is knowing who you are and what you want and never apologizing for it.”

“Women have fought so long and hard for our rights and equality, and now all our attention is put on being a size 0.”

“To experience the good you have to have seen the bad; plus it makes you appreciate blessings more. Tough times taught me to be a fighter.”

Here are four of my all-time favourites of Pinks songs:

Asthma

I am starting to get really nervous about my exam next Monday. I am studying and trying my best to be ready. But it feels like I am failing. But I won’t give up. I am going to do my best and that just needs to be enough.

Yesterday I had a bad day at campus. I had to park far from my lecture hall and when I started walking to my lecture, a little stressed, I meet a couple of people that were vaping and smoking cigarettes. I tried to hold my breath and keep away from them, but I couldn’t so I got an Asthma attack. I took some medicine and thought that I still could make it to my class. So I kept moving, but slower this time. Then when I came to the building I was going to have my lecture, I went into the toilet. But someone had been smoking in there. So after my second Asthma attack for the day, I was not feeling so good. I meet a friend and tried to not get a panic attack as well. But I just couldn’t stay on campus and go on the lecture. I was feeling weak and my chest hurt. I called my husband that picked me up.

Now I am at home, still not feeling great. And missing today’s two classes. I feel awful. But I am going to study from home today. To get ready for the exam. And I am going to get some rest, so I don’t get worse.

I hope you have a fantastic day. And this Weeks WCW post is soon out. Read it.

Zelda ~ Thankful Tuesday

For this weeks Thankful Tuesday post, I wanted to write about my dog Zelda. She is the little one in our small family.

She’s a Welsh Corgi Cardigan that is about 2,5 years old. And she is kind of goofy. She has a strong will and she loves to play. There is so much puppy left in her that she on a daily basic chase her tail.

We bought her so Oracle could get a little sister and someone to play with. And I am really thankful that we did. She always makes me laugh. And now we have two dogs to cuddle with.

When I have a cold, I have two dogs to warm me up. And they keep a close eye on me. Zelda loves to explore new places, but she is a homebody. She loves her yellow ring.

I could write so much more about her and I will but not today. Instead, I am going to share this picture of Zelda with you:

October 22 ~ Motivational Monday

For this week’s Motivational Monday I have chosen this quote:

“She needed a HERO, so that’s what she became.”

I don’t know who said it, but it struck a chord in me when I first read it on Pinterest. If you are like me you have grown up reading fairytales where the Prince always saves the girl and the day. But that is not real life. Women don’t need a man to survive. I think we all need to be our own hero from time to time. And with this, I don’t say that we shouldn’t take help from men or other women. All I am saying is that we can be our own hero. We are stronger than you think. And we can do more than you think.

You are the Hero of your own story! Remember that.

Here is a picture of Wonder Women, to inspire you all!

Situation Sunday ~ October 21

This week I haven’t really been all that interested in what’s been going on around the world because I have a sick dog and very little sleep. Plus I have had my classes on campus to deal with.

But some news I have gotten is that Congratulations are in order for Price Harry and Dutchess Meghan. They are expecting a baby Spring 2019. I say it on Kensingtonroyals Instagram. Here is a snapshot of the announcement.

@kensingtonroyal announcement about the baby on Instagram

I like these kinds of news, but I have read that people are discussing if the baby is going to be born around Brexit and what’s going to get the most attention.

Prince Harry and Dutchess Meghan are in Australia for a tour and The Invictus Games. For those of you who don’t know what The Invictus Games are; it’s a multi-sports event for injured, hurt or sick military and veterans that Prince Harry started 2014.

“The Invictus Games use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women.” ~Quote from The Invictues Games website.

I love this. I think it’s amazing and I hope to see more news about the games.

I have also read a bit about Brexit. Yesterday there was a demonstration in London against Brexit. According to DN.se where there about half a million people protesting. I don’t live in U.K. and I don’t really know what I think about Brexit, because I am not well read on the subject. I just now that many people have very strong opinions about it. We just have to wait and see.

I have also read about Taylor Swifts political stance and how she now has started telling people to vote. I know she shared this message on her Instagram last week:

And this week she shared this on her Instagram:

And this on her Stories:

I think it’s great. We need more women that stand up for there beliefs and I think that Taylor can get through to so many people in America so some people how maybe wasn’t going to vote now is voting. And that’s good.

I don’t care that she hasn’t been outspoken about her political standpoint before. I just glad that she is now.

Self-care Saturday

Its time for Self-Care Saturday and today I want to write to you about the importance of sleep. To sleep for at least 8 hours every night is something that I call self-care!

Without our sleep, you lose your concentration, and if you are anything like me, you will get frustrated and get more stressed out.

We need sleep to let our mind process what has happened over the day. Memories are being stored and the new things we have learned over the day is being processed. Our bodies need to rest. When we sleep the muscles relax and out blood pressure and ouls go down. The production of our stress hormones goes down when we sleep.

I know that everybody has different needs when it comes to sleeping and how long they need, but I really believe that everyone needs at least 8 hours.

Now some of you might think that it easy for me to say that you should sleep at night, but I have problems sleeping myself. Its usually only on the weekends that I get to sleep my 8 hours. I have trouble getting in bed early and I go up early when I have to go to campus. This last week my dog Oracle has been sick and both my husband and I have had just a few hours of sleep every night.

I have noticed that when I don’t sleep much it’s easier to get anxiety and panic attacks. I am more vulnerable. So with little sleep going grocery shopping or just going into campus is a real challenge. I have decided that I need to get more sleep because I am important. We all need to spend more time on our self-care because we deserve it.

What do you think? How much sleep do you need?

Modern Family ~ Fangirl Friday

I love the Tv-show Modern Family. It almost always makes me laugh and I think the show has amazing actors and actresses. I have to admit that I follow most of them on Instagram and Twitter.

Modern Family is about three families that together make a big family. In the first family, we have Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill) and his wife Gloria (Sophia Vergara) and Gloria’s son Manny (Rico Rodriguez), from an earlier marriage.  Jay owns his own closet company and Gloria is a stay at home mom.                                                                  The Second family consists of; Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) and her husband Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell). And their three children: Haley (Sarah Hyland), Alex (Ariel Winters) and Luke (Nolan Gould). Claire is a stay at home mom and Phil is a realtor.                            The last family is; gay couple Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet), and their daughter Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons). Mitchell is a lawyer and Cam is home with Lily.

Claire and Mitchell are children of Jay from a previous marriage. And the show is about what this big family gets up to. They are very close to each other and spend a lot of time together. Jay is struggling with the fact that his son Mitchell is gay. He loves his son, but he is old school and trying to get up to speed with modern times.  Claire is struggling with the fact that her father’s new wife Gloria is younger than her. And Gloria is trying to fit in with her new family.

Down below is a promo from the Modern Family’s first episode:

My husband and I are actually rewatching the series right now on Netflix, where the first 8 seasons are available in Sweden at least.

Some of my favourite quotes from the movie:

“Family is family. Whether it’s the one you start out with, the one you end up with, or the family that you gain along the way.” ~ Gloria Delgado-Pritchett

“Why do I have to watch a French movie, I didn’t do anything wrong.” ~ Phil Dunphy

We all struggle with limitations. Some we’re willing to accept, and some we’re not. It’s never too late to grow in life.” ~ Jay Pritchett

“What qualifies someone as a hero? Obviously, a hero has to be someone we respect. A person we look up to. A person who is generous of spirit. Who’s willing to grow and learn. Maybe it’s the person you love most in the world. Or the guy who makes the most out of life no matter what anyone thinks. For me though, the hero of my family is my family, because of who we are together.” ~ Manny Delgado

“There are dreamers and there are realists in this world. You’d think the dreamers would find the dreamers, and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not, the opposite is true. You see, the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists, well, without the dreamers, they might never get off the ground.” ~ Cameron Tucker

Have you watched Modern Family? What did you think? If not, I highly recommend you watch it, at least if you like comedy.

And I also wanted to share the gag reel from season 1:

Feeling down

I don’t really know what happened. I have had an okay day, but now in the afternoon, I started feeling down. I am feeling like I want to crawl down in a hole and not come out. This is a feeling I hate to have and I am trying to turn this day around.

I am feeling drained by the lack of sleep and the worries about Oracle. By what I have observed today I want to say that she is feeling better, but I am not sure. I have spent the last two days at home, but today I want into campus to have a computer lab about statistics. My father had the dogs while I was away and I am really thankful for that.

Tomorrow I have an early lecture and then I really need to continue with my studying for the exam. I am a little nervous about the exam, but I am going to do my best and that just have to be enough.

Right now I am fighting to keep my eyes open, but I have so much more to do today. The dogs need to get food and then a walk. My husband is cooking dinner for us, so I need to eat. And I really should pack my bag for tomorrow. And put the dog cages in the car, so I don’t need to stress about that tomorrow morning. Plus I have a few emails I need to send away.

October 18 ~ Throwback Thursday

Todays Throwback is a picture of Oracle enjoying the autumn sun in October 2014.

2014-10-04 Oracle hemma hos Vogelförbloggen.jpg

She is about 1,5 years old in this picture and she still loves to roll around in the grass or snow. Sometimes I still believe that she is a puppy. She acts like a puppy occasionally and I love her zest for life.

I also want to share this song that came out in October 2014:

I still think its really good and I have it on my playlist for when I am cleaning the house.

Have an amazing day!

WCW ~ Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey is one of my role models, therefore, she is this week WCW. For me, WCW is about powerful women that I can look up to. Women that have risen above their problems or women that talk about things. Women that speak up against wrongful doings. Or just work in a charitable way.

Oprah had a tough childhood and she didn’t let that hold her down. She is known for her charity work, her talk-show and her compassion to others. I know that she has her own website where she shares so many wonderful things. Check it out here.

She came from nothing at all and is now one of the most powerful women around. When I grew up I used to watch her tv-show at least twice a week and many things she said on her show really stayed with me and helped me try to navigate some of the more tough times in my life.

I know that there has been some talk about people in Amerca wanting Oprah to run for president and I would not mind her being the president. I think she could be a wonderful leader. But I have also read that Oprah doesn’t want to run for president and I can respect that. I just hope that she will continue with beeing her and a role model for so many people.

Here are some of my favourite quotes:

“Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness.”

“Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.”

“Follow your instincts. That’s where true wisdom manifests itself.”
