Fangirl Friday – 1 March

Time to post another Fangirl Friday post. Haven’t posted one of these since last year. But today is not going to be of my favourite movies, series or actors. Now today is going to be of movies I want to see.

First out is: What Men Want.
I have seen many trailers for this one and I think I could be hilarious. There are good actors and actresses in it and I hope I get to see it sometime this year. Maybe it will be available on Netflix? I can only hope.

Second out is: The Hustle
A movie with Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson… That just sounds great. And according to the trailer it really will be. I really want to watch this one.

Third out is: Avengers 4: Endgame
For those who know me… know that I am a big fan of Marvel. And I am kind of dreading watching this one, because I know I will cry. But I just really want to see it. I am planning a Marvel Movie Marathon for when I get home. And then I want to see this one.

Fourth out is: Detective Pikachu.
This one I want to watch because of nostalgia. I mean Pokémon was something that I remember from when I was a child. And I loved Pikachu. And now a movie with Ryan Renolds As Pikachu. Can it get better?

Last out is: Kingsman: The Secret Service
So I know this movie is older, but I still want to see it. It’s actually a recommendation from a friend to see it so I will. And I have actually only heard good things about the movie.

That’s it for today’s Fangirl Friday. Hopefully, I can post another post next Friday. Have a fantastic evening!

Elf ~ Christmas Movie

One of my all-time favourite Christmas Movies is Elf. I watch it at least once every December. And I have already watched it once this year. My husband does not understand why I need to watch this movie every year, and sometimes more than once. So I usually watch it when he isn’t at home. So I can watch it in peace.

The movie is about Buddy (Will Ferrell), a human who has been raised on the North pole by an elf. In the movie, he finds out that his not an Elf and he leaves the North Pole to try and find his father Walter (James Caan) in New York, who didn’t even know that Buddy existed.

The movie is hilarious and it always gives me Christmas feelings. I love how Will Ferrell plays the role of Buddy. It’s funny and believable. And I think I need to see the movie at least one more time before Christmas.

Watch the trailer down below!

If you haven’t watched it jet I can highly recommend it. And if you have seen it, why not watch it again! Curl up in your sofa with some hot chocolate and someone you love.

Love Actually ~ Christmas movie

One of my favourite Christmas movies is: Love Actually. I like that you follow different people and see how there lives change over the time of the movie. This is a movie that has it all. Love, angst and so many funny moments.

I can’t actually explain the plot. Not in a good way at least. The movie is full of amazing actor and actresses. Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, Alan Rickman and Martin Freeman have parts in the movie.

This song is a part of the movie and I like it. It’s actually on my Christmas Playlist.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet I can recommend it. Maybe it’s a good idea to watch it this evening.

Lethal Weapon ~ Christmas Movie

Todays Christmas Movie is Lethal Weapon. Now some of you might say that this movie isn’t a Christmas movie, but according to me, you are wrong. It takes place around the Christmas holiday and there is Christmas music playing in the movie. Maybe it’s not a traditional Christmas Movie but I usually watch it before Christmas.

Picure source: IMDB

Roger Murthaugh (Danny Glover), is a cop that just turned 50 gets a new partner, Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) a cop that lost his wife and now is suicidal. They are completely opposites, but now they have to solve a murder of Amanda Hunsaker, a prostitute thats also the daughter of one of Murtaughs old Vietnam War friends, Michael Hunsaker. The murderinvestigation quickly turns in to a case about drug smugglers and soon both Riggs and Murthaghs lifes are in danger, inlucing Murthaghs familys.

And the most famous quote from the movie is:

“I’m too old for this shit” ~ Roger Murthaugh

My husband and I watched the movie the other day. And as he always says when we watch it: This is not a Christmas Movie. So we agree to disagree.

Hope you have a wonderful Friday!

Office Christmas Party – Christmas Movie

Last night my husband and I watched the first Christmas Movie of the season, for us. We watched Office Christmas Party, a movie we have never watched before. It was surprisingly good.

It’s Christmas soon and Clay Vanstone (T.J. Miller) is running a branch of the family company. His sister, Carol (Jennifer Aniston) is the CEO and when she comes for a visit to the branch she threatens to shut down the branch, but she chancels the Office Christmas Party. But to impress a big client Clay and his two workers Josh (Jason Bateman) and Tracy (Olivia Munn) throw an epic Christmas party in just a couple of hours. But the party gets out of hand fast.

I thought the movie was funny and not what I expected at all. I will defiantly watch it again.

Hope you all have an amazing Sunday.

Iron Man ~ Fangirl Friday

So with the recent death of Stan Lee, I wanted to change today’s planned post to a post that honours him. And because I wrote about Stan Lee the other day I thought it was fitting that I today write about Iron Man. A character that Stan Lee created with Larry Lieber, Don Heck and Jack Kirby.

I want to write about the first Iron Man movie that came out in 2008.

Iron Man is about Tony Stark, billionaire and playboy. He is the son of Howard Stark, a legendary inventor. Tony Stark is going to give a weapons presentation to a unit in Iraqi, but his Humvee is attacked and Tony is taken, hostage. He is hurt and to survive he must have a car battery attached to his heart. He figures out a way to make the battery smaller and now Iron Man is born. He escapes and back in at home he starts building a better Iron Man suit. But someone wants to take Stark Industries technology and use it for something.

“Iron Man. That’s kind of catchy. It’s got a nice ring to it. I mean it’s not technically accurate. The suit’s a gold titanium alloy, but it’s kind of provocative, the imagery anyway.” ~ Tony Stark (when reading the Newspaper)

Tony Stark is portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. and his assistant Pepper Potts is portrayed by Gwyneth Paltrow.

Stan Lee has a cameo in this movie like he does in many other Marvel movies. Watch it here:

Stan Lee’s cameo in Iron Man (2008)

I love the Iron Man movies, because much like the tagline: “Heroes aren’t born. They’re built.” I feel like everyone can become a hero. And we all need heroes in our lives. And there are many different kinds of heroes. You can be someone who to stand up for those who doesn’t have a voice. Or someone who saves animals that doesn’t have a home. Or a firefighter. A policeman. A doctor. Someone who fights for human rights.

I also love Iron Man because I think the story is brilliant. I love watching Marvel movies and tv-show because I feel like it’s quality in the production and the storylines are interesting and different.

If you haven’t watched Iron Man yet, its about time to do so now…

Rest in peace, Stan Lee

Yesterday I saw on the news that Stan Lee had passed away 95 years old. Most people know who he was, at least the people who live comic-series and Marvel knows how he was.

He was a man with great imagination and have given us so many wonderful characters. He was a true entertainer. And I know that he has helped so many people with his stories.

“I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic-book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain people, you’re doing a good thing.” – Stan Lee

Here is a list of some of the characters he created:

Stan Lee created together with Jack Kirby booth The AvengersX-Men and Fantastic Four.

“I wanted them to be diverse. The whole underlying principle of the X-Men was to try to be an anti-bigotry story to show there’s good in every person.” – Stan Lee

Even though he could have retired a long time ago he still kept on working.

“Most people say, “I can’t wait to retire so I can play golf,” or go yachting or whatever they do. Well, if I was playing golf, I would want that to finish so I could go and dream up a new TV show.” – Stan Lee

And almost all who watch Marvel movies know that Stan Lee has Cameos in the movies. Watch here:

Excelsior is a thing that Stan Lee always said. And this is what he means:

“You know, my motto is ‘Excelsior.’ That’s an old word that means ‘upward and onward to greater glory.’ It’s on the seal of the state of New York. Keep moving forward, and if it’s time to go, it’s time. Nothing lasts forever.” – Stan Lee

ISome other things that Stan Lee has said that I just love:

“The more you read, the better you’re going to become as a storyteller.” – Stan Lee

“I don’t know where the hell I’ll be in five years. Maybe I’ll be producing movies maybe I’ll be on a corner selling apples. I don’t know, but I’m having a hell of a lot of fun.” – Stan Lee

[Being a ‘geek’] has become a badge of honor. It’s geeks who really make or break a TV show or movie or video game. They’re the ones who are passionate about these things and who collect [the paraphernalia] and talk about them. A geek is really somebody interested in communication and entertainment and [finding] the best way to avail himself or herself to it..” – Stan Lee

“Life is never completely without its challenges.” – Stan Lee

Rest in Peace Stan Lee. And thank you for the stories. You will forever live on in our favourite heroes and their stories.

Harry Potter part 2 ~ Fangirl Friday

I know… I wrote about Harry Potter last week also. But I feel like there are so much to be said about Harry Potter and I am a big fan. Also, I wrote this week WCW about J.K. Rowling and I thought it was appropriate to write about Harry Potter again.

Because I concentrated on the first book and movie I decided that today I would write about the second part of the Harry Potter Series. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Here is the trailer for the movie:

One of my favourite parts of the book is this one:

‘I seem to remember telling you both that I would have to expel you if you broke any more school rules,’ said Dumbledore. Ron opened his mouth wide in horror.
‘Which only goes to show that the best of us must sometimes eat our words,’ Dumbledore went on, smiling.

And also when Dumbledore says this to Harry:

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

And of course, it’s in this book and movie that Dobby is introduced for the first time. At first infuriating little thing, but when you get his backstory you can’t do anything else than to love him.

Here is when Harry makes Dobby a free house-elf.

I think I might just have to have a Harry Potter marathon soon. Both with the books and the movies.

Harry Potter ~ Fangirl Friday

Because I wrote about Emma Watson on Wednesday for my WCW post, I decided to write one post about Harry Potter. I love Harry Potter, both the books and the movies.

I can still remember when I read my first Harry Potter book. I couldn’t put it down. I loved how J. K. Rowlings pulled me into this magical world and how amazing her writing was. I still read the books when I get the chance.

And the movies are amazing too. I feel like they have been made in such a way that you aren’t disappointed after reading the books and then watching the movies.

One of my favourite quotes from the book: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

“There are all kinds of courage,” said Dumbledore, smiling. “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.”

This was something that I took to heart and I really needed to read this at the time. To stand up to your friends aren’t easy but sometimes necessary.

I will always love Harry Potter. And one of my goals is to visit Harry Potters World in London and of course Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross Station in London. I didn’t have the tie when I was in London this summer.

One other favourite quote from the first Harry Potter book is this:

“The truth.”  Dumbledore sighed. “It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution. However, I shall answer your questions unless I have a very good reason not to, in which case I beg you’ll forgive me. I shall not, of course, lie.”

I believe that if you ask a lot of people my age most of them have read a Harry Potter book or at least watched a movie. And many people have probably read all the books and watched all the movies. I hope I get a chance to read the books again this winter. I love to curl up on the sofa under a blanket and with a cup of hot chocolate and read a good book.

Here is a clip from the first movie. Where Harry meets both Ron and Hermione:

Just watching this clip down below gives me nostalgia. Anyone else?

I will probably write more about the wizarding world that Harry Potter lives in at some time. Maybe even this month, but not right now.

Have an amazing Friday!

Love, Nea

Emma Watson – WCW

It’s Halloween today and I thought it was fitting that today’s WCW is an actress that has played a famous witch in Harry Potter. Emma Watson.

I a big fan of Harry Potter. Both the books and the movies. When “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone came out in 2001 I was only 11 years old. And I noticed that the actors and actresses were about my age. I loved Hermione Granger because she was smart, strong and liked school just like me. I wanted to be her.

So Emma Watson became a role model for me at first because she played Hermione Granger. But you older we both got the more I started to find Emma a role model because who she was.

Emma is a Global Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations. She cares about the environment. She is a humanitarian. And she stands up for what she believes in. And she has shown many times that she is selfless and compassionate.

These are just a few things that I admire about her.

Here are two speeches Emma has made both for the United Nations:

And here are a list of some of my favourite quotes from Emma:

“It’s a journey and the sad thing is you only learn from experience, so as much as someone can tell you things, you have to go out there and make your own mistakes in order to learn.”

“It’s not the absence of fear. It’s overcoming it. Sometimes you’ve got to blast through and have faith.”

“Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong.”

“If not me, who?
If not now, when?”

“The saddest thing a girl can do is dumb herself down for a guy.”
