Whitney Cummings ~ WCW

Women Crush Wednesday is here and today’s WCW is Whitney Cummings. She is a comedian that I love. But she is also someone who cares about animals and other people.

Reasons why she is this weeks WCS:

  • She helped evacuate animals and people from the fires in California, this month.
  • She took it upon her self to give food to animals in need.
  • She took in a badly hurt piglet and is nursing him back to health. His name is Joe.
  • She is very outspoken about what she thinks is right and wrong.
  • She has talked a lot about gun control in America.
  • She co-hosted, with Nikki Reed, a Thanksgiving dinner for people who lost their homes in the fires.
  • She is brutally honest.
  • And she makes me laugh.

Tova Leigh ~ WCW

This week’s Women Crush Wednesday is all about Tova Leigh. Many of you might now know her. But she is an inspirational woman that has given me so much hope for the future and that I am beautiful just the way I am.

Some of the reasons why she is this weeks WCW:

  • She doesn’t take shit from anyone.
  • She is brutally honest, about parenthood, about being a woman. Well, literally everything.
  • She started something that she calls: MOM LIFE CRISIS. She literally films herself doing things she always wanted to do: like bungy jumping and pole dancing.
  • She does videos of herself and sometimes with her husband doing things other people have done, but she/they do it a little different. She tags it: nailedit. They are hilarious.
  • She makes me laugh.
  • And she posts things that make you question life, in a good way.

You can follow her on: Instagram, Facebook and Youtube.

I also want to share with you how I found her. I was having a really bad day at campus, with panic attacks and anxiety that was crippling me. My lecture for the day had ended and I was sitting at a table waiting for my husband to get off work so we could drive home. And that was about 3 hours away. I had my headphones on and was scrolling on facebook trying to keep my mind occupied. And a friend of my had shared a video that Tova had posted. I watched it and I laugh. I then went on her page and started watching what she had shared. And all the sudden my husband called saying he was on his way. Her page literally saved mine from a big panic attack. And I have followed her since that day.

This one is so funny. I don’t have kids, but I just love it.

First episode of mom life crisis:

Just watch her videos and I promise you will laugh and feel understood. And Tova, if you by any chance reads this, thank you for all that you share with us. You are amazing and fantastic. And I am looking forward to many more funny nailedit videos and other fun things. And the new Mom Life Crisis video about the trip to Nepal and Everest. And basically anything you post.

Love, Nea

Michelle Obama ~ WCW

Michele Obama, a woman that I look up to in so many ways, is this week’s Women Crush Wednesday. I think everyone knows her as Barck Obama’s wife and The First Lady of America from 2009 to 2017. She’s a lawyer and writer. And her book: Becoming, is a book that’s on my wishlist for Christmas.

She is this week WCW because:

  • She started “Let’s Move!” in 2010. A movement to solve childhood obesity.
  • She launched “Let Girls Learn“, to help girls around the world get an education.
  • She stands up for what she believes in.
  • She is kind and caring.
  • She is honest and open about being a black person in the USA
  • She loves her husband and even though they have had their up and downs, they still together. And they act like they just fell in love. Its beautiful and something I hope to have with my husband.
  • She cares about the service members, veterans and their families. Together with Dr Jill Biden she launched Joining Forces in 2011. It’s an initiative to help and support service members, veterans and their families with education, employment opportunities and wellness.
  • She is not afraid to be herself.
  • She shares her quirks and all with us.

Watch Michelle Obama on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke:

Shes just a great inspiration to me. Listen to this:

Some of my favourite quotes:

“I always say that women should wear whatever makes them feel good about themselves. That’s what I always try to do.” ~ Michelle Obama

“We explain when someone is cruel or acts like a bully, you do not stoop to their level. Our motto is when they go low, you go high.”~ Michelle Obama

“One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals. And so when I hear about negative and false attacks, I really don’t invest any energy in them, because I know who I am.” ~ Michelle Obama

“You can’t make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen.”  ~ Michelle Obama

“Do not bring people in your life who weigh you down. And trust your instincts … good relationships feel good. They feel right. They don’t hurt. They’re not painful. That’s not just with somebody you want to marry, but it’s with the friends that you choose. It’s with the people you surround yourselves with.”  ~ Michelle Obama

J. K. Rowling – WCW

This week WCW is J. K. Rowling. If you don’t know who she is you must be living under a rock. As the writer behind the Harry Potter books and Fantastic Beasts and where you can find them, she is world known. But how many people now all the reasons that she is a role model? Here are 10 of my reasons why she is my role model:

  1. She worked up from nothing to being, like I wrote earlier, world known. I think most people know that she was living on welfare before she became famous. When she wrote Harry Potter, she was depressed and a single mom.
  2. She never gave up on her dreams, even though many publishers rejected her Harry Potter books. She just kept going.
  3. She stands up for what she believes in. Just look at her twitter.
  4. She never forgets her fans. Always having a dialogue with them on Twitter. Or writing on Pottermore.
  5. She is the first author in the world to have a net worth of 1 billion, that she then lost when she donated money to charity.
  6. She founded a charity that helps orphans to find homes and she named it after the light giving spell from Harry Potter, Lumos.
  7. She doesn’t romanticise the bad guy in her books. Just look at Draco Malfoy. J.K. Rowling has been very clear to her fans that he does not have a heart of gold an that he will not become friends with Harry in the end. He is one of the bad guys.
  8. Her female characters are strong women who stand up for themselves. And they have strong opinions and they are independent. Just look at Hermione, McGonagall, Mrs Weasley, GinnyTina, Queenie and so many more of the female characters from her books.
  9. J.K. Rowling is also a big inspiration to millions of people because of the books she has written. The books are amazing and filled with so many wonderful lessons that we need. And they help inspire people to read and to go out in the world an make a difference.
  10. She is an advocate for LGBT rights. She said that Dumbledore was gay.

Some of my favourite quotes of J.K Rowling:

“Anything’s possible if you’ve got enough nerve.”

“If you want to see the true measure of a man, watch how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

“It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.”

What’s your favourite thing that J. K. Rowling has written or said?

Emma Watson – WCW

It’s Halloween today and I thought it was fitting that today’s WCW is an actress that has played a famous witch in Harry Potter. Emma Watson.

I a big fan of Harry Potter. Both the books and the movies. When “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone came out in 2001 I was only 11 years old. And I noticed that the actors and actresses were about my age. I loved Hermione Granger because she was smart, strong and liked school just like me. I wanted to be her.

So Emma Watson became a role model for me at first because she played Hermione Granger. But you older we both got the more I started to find Emma a role model because who she was.

Emma is a Global Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations. She cares about the environment. She is a humanitarian. And she stands up for what she believes in. And she has shown many times that she is selfless and compassionate.

These are just a few things that I admire about her.

Here are two speeches Emma has made both for the United Nations:

And here are a list of some of my favourite quotes from Emma:

“It’s a journey and the sad thing is you only learn from experience, so as much as someone can tell you things, you have to go out there and make your own mistakes in order to learn.”

“It’s not the absence of fear. It’s overcoming it. Sometimes you’ve got to blast through and have faith.”

“Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong.”

“If not me, who?
If not now, when?”

“The saddest thing a girl can do is dumb herself down for a guy.”

Pink ~ WCW

Pink is this week’s Woman Crush. She has been a role model to me for years. She always been her self. I love her music. I think it gets better and better with every new realise.

I know that Pink is an animal rights activist and she supports many different charities and fights for peoples rights. She is also outspoken about LGBT community should have the same rights that everyone else.

  • I’m very involved with PETA – People for Ethical Treatment of Animals – and Greenpeace and a lot of women’s shelter and clothing giveaways. ~Pink
  • “I think the best day will be when we no longer talk about being gay or straight… It’s not a gay wedding, it’s just a wedding… It’s not a gay marriage, it’s just a marriage.”  ~ Pink

Have you watched this speech that Pink made for her daughter at the 2017 VMA:s

I feel really inspired. Be how you are. Don’t change for anyone. We need more people in the world like Pink.

I really admire her for helping people around the world get accepted for how they are and that you shouldn’t change for anyone. Her music inspires people and they are amazing to have at parties.

I hope that you find Pink as inspiring as me. Even if you don’t like her music, I hope you see all the good things she does for the world.

Quotes from Pink:

“The willow is my favourite tree. I grew up near one. It’s the most flexible tree in nature and nothing can break it – no wind, no elements, it can bend and withstand anything.”

“True beauty is knowing who you are and what you want and never apologizing for it.”

“Women have fought so long and hard for our rights and equality, and now all our attention is put on being a size 0.”

“To experience the good you have to have seen the bad; plus it makes you appreciate blessings more. Tough times taught me to be a fighter.”

Here are four of my all-time favourites of Pinks songs:

Audrey Hepburn – WCW

For as long as I can remember I have always looked up to Audrey Hepburn. My father introduced me to her movies when I was a teenager and I love them. My favourites are: “Sabrina” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s“.

This is why she today is my Woman Crush Wednesday. What I mean about WCW is a strong woman, alive or dead, that I look up to. This Monday I used one of Audrey Hepburn’s quotes in my Motivational Monday post. She has had a big influence on many peoples lives and I know that she has had a big one in my life. She is my role model for so many reasons.

I know that after she had done a lot of successful movies she started working with UNICEF. She said this about UNICEF:

“I can testify to what UNICEF means to children because I was among those who received food and medical relief right after World War II.”

She was a great humanitarian and I love so many things she has said. Her compassion and kindness. I have read somewhere that she didn’t think she was beautiful. But I think she was beautiful both on the inside and the outside. I love how she wanted to help other people. This is another favorite quote from her:

“Remember; if you ever need a helping hand, it’s at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others”

I am sad that she died when she was only 63 years old, in 1993. I was three years old at the time, and I didn’t even know who she was. But now I know and I will always love her movies.

And I have to admit I have watched Sabrina and Breakfast at Tiffany’s so many times that I think I remember all the lines. And one thing that really surprised me was this quote:

“I’m an introvert… I love being by myself, love being outdoors, love taking a long walk with my dogs and looking at the trees, flowers, the sky.”

This because its so much like myself and she was a big movie star. I didn’t believe that they could be Introverts. But I have learned that this is so wrong. And I am amazed by all the things she has done. She really followed her dreams and did it her way. She will forever be a Role Model for me.

Here is a list of some of the best quotes Audrey Hepburn has said:

  • “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”

  • “I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”

  • “Make-up can only make you look pretty on the outside but it doesn’t help if you’re ugly on the inside. Unless you eat the make-up.”

  • “Pick the day. Enjoy it – to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come… The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present – and I don’t want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future.”

If you want to know more about Audrey Hepburn google about her or read one of the many books about her life. And of course, watch some of her movies. They are fantastic.
