Harry Potter part 2 ~ Fangirl Friday

I know… I wrote about Harry Potter last week also. But I feel like there are so much to be said about Harry Potter and I am a big fan. Also, I wrote this week WCW about J.K. Rowling and I thought it was appropriate to write about Harry Potter again.

Because I concentrated on the first book and movie I decided that today I would write about the second part of the Harry Potter Series. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Here is the trailer for the movie:

One of my favourite parts of the book is this one:

‘I seem to remember telling you both that I would have to expel you if you broke any more school rules,’ said Dumbledore. Ron opened his mouth wide in horror.
‘Which only goes to show that the best of us must sometimes eat our words,’ Dumbledore went on, smiling.

And also when Dumbledore says this to Harry:

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

And of course, it’s in this book and movie that Dobby is introduced for the first time. At first infuriating little thing, but when you get his backstory you can’t do anything else than to love him.

Here is when Harry makes Dobby a free house-elf.

I think I might just have to have a Harry Potter marathon soon. Both with the books and the movies.

Love, Nea

Harry Potter ~ Fangirl Friday

Because I wrote about Emma Watson on Wednesday for my WCW post, I decided to write one post about Harry Potter. I love Harry Potter, both the books and the movies.

I can still remember when I read my first Harry Potter book. I couldn’t put it down. I loved how J. K. Rowlings pulled me into this magical world and how amazing her writing was. I still read the books when I get the chance.

And the movies are amazing too. I feel like they have been made in such a way that you aren’t disappointed after reading the books and then watching the movies.

One of my favourite quotes from the book: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

“There are all kinds of courage,” said Dumbledore, smiling. “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.”

This was something that I took to heart and I really needed to read this at the time. To stand up to your friends aren’t easy but sometimes necessary.

I will always love Harry Potter. And one of my goals is to visit Harry Potters World in London and of course Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross Station in London. I didn’t have the tie when I was in London this summer.

One other favourite quote from the first Harry Potter book is this:

“The truth.”  Dumbledore sighed. “It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution. However, I shall answer your questions unless I have a very good reason not to, in which case I beg you’ll forgive me. I shall not, of course, lie.”

I believe that if you ask a lot of people my age most of them have read a Harry Potter book or at least watched a movie. And many people have probably read all the books and watched all the movies. I hope I get a chance to read the books again this winter. I love to curl up on the sofa under a blanket and with a cup of hot chocolate and read a good book.

Here is a clip from the first movie. Where Harry meets both Ron and Hermione:

Just watching this clip down below gives me nostalgia. Anyone else?

I will probably write more about the wizarding world that Harry Potter lives in at some time. Maybe even this month, but not right now.

Have an amazing Friday!

Love, Nea

Walk the Line ~ Fangirl Friday

So I am a big fan of Johnny Cash. And of course, June Carter. I grew up in a house where there was a lot of music playing, and have always listened to a lot of music. And I listen to almost every genre out there. But country music has a special place in my heart.

When “Walk the Line” came out in 2005, I needed to see it. Because it was about Johnny Cash and also about June Carter. And Joaquin Phoenix plays Johnny and Reese Witherspoon plays June which was a great plus for me.

I saw the movie and I loved it. The way Joaquin and Reese manage to capture the voices of Johnny and June. I think they did an excellent version of all the songs in the movie.

I am not going to try and write what the movie is all about, but you can watch the trailer here:

I love how the movie is more or less about the love between Johnny and June. It’s a beautiful story, even if people have been hurt in the process.

Here is a clip from the movie when Johnny plays at the prison:

But one of my favourite songs of Johnny Cash is: “I walk the Line”. Here is the version from the movie:

I know that the movie has won a lot of awards. One of which was an Oscar that Reese won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role. Here is a list of the awards and the nominations.

Have you watched the movie? What did you think?

Modern Family ~ Fangirl Friday

I love the Tv-show Modern Family. It almost always makes me laugh and I think the show has amazing actors and actresses. I have to admit that I follow most of them on Instagram and Twitter.

Modern Family is about three families that together make a big family. In the first family, we have Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill) and his wife Gloria (Sophia Vergara) and Gloria’s son Manny (Rico Rodriguez), from an earlier marriage.  Jay owns his own closet company and Gloria is a stay at home mom.                                                                  The Second family consists of; Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) and her husband Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell). And their three children: Haley (Sarah Hyland), Alex (Ariel Winters) and Luke (Nolan Gould). Claire is a stay at home mom and Phil is a realtor.                            The last family is; gay couple Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet), and their daughter Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons). Mitchell is a lawyer and Cam is home with Lily.

Claire and Mitchell are children of Jay from a previous marriage. And the show is about what this big family gets up to. They are very close to each other and spend a lot of time together. Jay is struggling with the fact that his son Mitchell is gay. He loves his son, but he is old school and trying to get up to speed with modern times.  Claire is struggling with the fact that her father’s new wife Gloria is younger than her. And Gloria is trying to fit in with her new family.

Down below is a promo from the Modern Family’s first episode:

My husband and I are actually rewatching the series right now on Netflix, where the first 8 seasons are available in Sweden at least.

Some of my favourite quotes from the movie:

“Family is family. Whether it’s the one you start out with, the one you end up with, or the family that you gain along the way.” ~ Gloria Delgado-Pritchett

“Why do I have to watch a French movie, I didn’t do anything wrong.” ~ Phil Dunphy

We all struggle with limitations. Some we’re willing to accept, and some we’re not. It’s never too late to grow in life.” ~ Jay Pritchett

“What qualifies someone as a hero? Obviously, a hero has to be someone we respect. A person we look up to. A person who is generous of spirit. Who’s willing to grow and learn. Maybe it’s the person you love most in the world. Or the guy who makes the most out of life no matter what anyone thinks. For me though, the hero of my family is my family, because of who we are together.” ~ Manny Delgado

“There are dreamers and there are realists in this world. You’d think the dreamers would find the dreamers, and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not, the opposite is true. You see, the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists, well, without the dreamers, they might never get off the ground.” ~ Cameron Tucker

Have you watched Modern Family? What did you think? If not, I highly recommend you watch it, at least if you like comedy.

And I also wanted to share the gag reel from season 1:

Fangirl Friday ~ Breakfast at Tiffany’s

So this is turning in to a real Audrey Hepburn week with my Motivational Monday and my WCW posts for this week, but that is just because she was a wonderful actress and had a great impact on my life.

The week’s movie is “Breakfast at Tiffany’s“. I love this movie because it always makes me feel better. For you who haven’t seen it here is a short description of the plot:

Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) is living in New York City and in the first scene she is eating breakfast outside of Tiffany’s window. She is a party girl and has a lot of men in her life. She meets her new neighbour Paul Varjak (George Peppard), a writer. Paul soon realises that their more to Holly than meets the eye and her past comes for a visit.

Audrey Hepburn Singing “Moon River” in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.

Some of my favourite quotes from the movie:

  • “People don’t belong to people.”
  • “A girl can’t read that sort of thing without her lipstick.”
  • “Anyone who ever gave you confidence, you owe them a lot.”
  • “It should take you exactly four seconds to cross from here to that door. I’ll give you two.”
  • “I’ll never get used to anything. Anybody that does, they might as well be dead.”

I hope you watch this movie. It really is a classic.
